kWp Explained: What Does “Kilowatt-Peak” Mean for Solar?
kWp is the headline "size" of a solar system. Here’s what it actually measures and why it’s not the whole story.

kWp (kilowatt-peak) is the output a solar array is rated to produce under standard test conditions — bright light, optimal angle, 25°C. It’s a consistent way to compare system sizes, but real-world output is lower.
Real-world output
A 6 kWp system in a good location might generate around 20–30 kWh per day, depending on sun hours, orientation and shading. Multiply kWp by your local sun hours to estimate daily generation.
